Dr Oz Italian Barramundi Low Calorie Recipe For The Italian Lovin’ Family

Recently touted as one of Dr Oz’s top 5 Superfoods. This Dr Oz Italian Barramundi With Tomato And Wine Sauce is part of The Family Style Eating Program for Matty, Adel and nicole 3 generations of fat, low-calorie options for the Italian-lovin’ family.

Barramundi is “..full of heart- and brain-healthy omega-3s..” Barramundi. This mild white fish is nurtured to be free of “hormones, antibiotics, mercury and other contaminates”.  The Seafood Choices Alliance named Australis it’s “Seafood Champion” for 2009.

Australis Barramundi:

The Mild White Fish That’s Loaded With Omega-3s
One of the reasons fish is a ‘health hero’ is because it is the best source of Omega 3 fatty acids – an essential nutrient that offers a broad range of health benefits (and one that is lacking in many modern diets).

Australis Barramundi is rich in omega-3s. Our US-barramundi has 833 mg of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids per 5-oz serving. That’s comparable to wild Coho salmon, and unheard of in a mild-flavored, white fish! Our sustainably raised fish from Vietnam and Indonesia are also good sources omega-3s at 600 mgs.

Add diced tomatoes with juice. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, season to taste with salt and white pepper. Stir in cornstarch mixture to thicken to preferred consistency. Place fillets on lightly greased baking pan. Cover with tomato mixture. Bake at 350deg about 10 -15 minutes, or until barramundi flakes easily.

Serves 8. Serving size = one 4 oz. fillet. Recipe is flexible and less fish can be used.

A 5 ounce serving of Australis Barramundi has just 137 calories and 2.5 grams of fat, with no saturated fat and less than 100 mg of sodium. It’s great for anyone watching their weight, limiting their sodium intake, or looking to make healthy food choices.

Hi there!
I work with Australis Aquaculture, the Massachusetts-based company that is popularizing the introduction of Barramundi fish here in the US. I had to comment after reading your great post here on Dr. Oz’s recent episode with Kate Geagan and how to make over the 3-generation Italian family’s favorite recipes.

In addition to being named a ‘2010 Super Food’ by Dr. Oz Australis Barramundi has been called a ‘2010 Top Culinary Trend’ and a ‘Lean, Green Superfood’. That’s because it’s not only delicious, but it’s loaded with omega-3s (levels comparable to Wild Coho Salmon), and is free of mercury, hormones, and other bad stuff. Plus, as you mentioned, our greener way of farming has been recognized by major environmental groups and earned us the coveted ‘Seafood Champion Award’. Australis Barramundi is great for anyone looking to make healthy food choices!

If you’re interested in learning more about Australis Barramundi, visit our website or connect with us on Facebook or Twitter https://twitter.com/BetterFish.

And if you’re interested in trying this delicious fish, look for it at Whole Foods, Safeway, Price Chopper, Giant, and other fine retailers including Stop & Shop coming this Fall.

Thanks for raising more awareness on this healthy, delicious Superfood!

To good food and good health!
Kelsie
